Passport Inquiries

Fees are payable in cash (U.S. dollars or Colombian pesos), by credit card or U.S. debit card at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota or at the Consular Agency in Barranquilla on the day of your appointment. Checks and Colombian debit cards are not accepted.
Cardholders must be present, and we do not have ATMs on site.
Please note that the above fees do not include the mandatory delivery fee of your passport or passport card. Delivery service may be paid with cash or by credit card to the DHL representative at the Embassy (next door to the Consular Agency) on the day of your appointment.
U.S. citizens that are applying for a passport using a DS-11 form can pay the fee online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1274042472/ .
In general, to apply for a U.S. passport, you must:
- Fill out the appropriate application form;
- Provide evidence of U.S. citizenship;
- Provide supporting documents;
- Provide a photo;
- Pay the appropriate fee; and
- Submit the application.

You must bring your printed appointment confirmation page, completed forms, and original documents to your interview.
When scheduling the appointment, you should make a written note of the following:
- The appointment confirmation number generated.
- The date and time for your appointment. You will not receive email confirmation of the appointment date.
- The appointment password. You will require the password if you need to cancel the appointment. No record of your password is kept at the Embassy.
Each applicant requiring a service at the Embassy must have a separate appointment. Please contact the embassy or consulate if you are unable to schedule passport or CRBA services for all of your minor children on the same day: ACSBogota@state.gov
When you book the appointment, it is vital that you print or note down your password and the appointment date and time. You will not receive an automated appointment confirmation email or reminder emails.
Appropriate application forms for the required passport service can be found on the Embassy’s website at: https://co.usembassy.gov/passports/
If using the online version of the application form, once you have answered all the questions the form will generate as a PDF file. You must print the application form as it cannot be submitted to the Embassy electronically. If you have difficulty with the online application form, there is a downloadable PDF version which can be printed and completed by hand using black ink.

U.S. citizens that are eligible to renew their U.S. passport using the DS-82 form must renew their U.S. passport by mail and pay the fee online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1156527186/ .
U.S. citizens that are applying for a passport using a DS-11 form can pay the fee online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1274042472/ .
If you were advised on the day of your interview that your application was approved, you should allow approximately ten to twelve weeks for your passport and four weeks for your child’s CRBA/passport to be received from the U.S. print facility.
Note: Please be advised that delivery to Venezuela takes one additional month.
Due to high demand, American Citizen Services units are unable to provide routine status updates for applications within the standard processing timeframe. Standard processing times for all services are approximate. Times quoted should be used only as a guide.

If no appointment is available when you first check, please check the calendar periodically for any newly released appointments.
Appointments are released periodically. The appointment calendar operates in real time so will show any available appointments, including appointments available due to cancellations. Appointments will not be released on a specific date or time so please regularly check the calendar for availability.
